After working for similar organizations for the last decade, he feels Quantum is a big leap forward and a perfect fit for his career path. “Quantum offers so much more to advisors in terms of resources and tools to help them grow their practices,” he says. In the past, Jim has been a securities-licensed registered representative and financial planner, and he spent a number of years as a wholesaler for variable annuity products. “I went through the dot.com crash, but I didn’t really get educated about indexed annuities until around 2007. Basically, I learned that they were not all ‘terrible.’ In fact, I realized that these products are amazing for retirees because they won’t lose money with them; the retiree wants principal protection along with modest gains. Additionally, the new FIAs are sophisticated products with some interesting index options.”
Originally from L.A., Jim has lived in Scottsdale for 20 years. He received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Arizona, which is where he met his wife. He worked as a political campaign consultant for three years in Sacramento for various politicians—including serving as a regional director for a presidential primary campaign—before he decided to change careers, move and get married, all in the same year. The couple has a daughter, Grace, who is attending their alma mater; she is currently spending a semester abroad in Barcelona. In his spare time, Jim likes to work out and follow U of A athletics.
