Ron Shurts

Chairman, Co-Founder

Ron Shurts is chairman and co-founder of The Quantum Group. A veteran of the insurance industry, Shurts began his career more than 30 years ago in his native Nebraska, selling insurance and other financial solutions to farmers and ranchers. With his direct sales experience and hands-on management style, he has helped grow Quantum into one of the top insurance distribution companies and independent marketing organizations in the country, responsible for over $1 billion a year in FIA (fixed indexed annuity) sales.

Ron realized the need for more client-centric FIAs and decided to do something about it. In 2005, Ron co-founded Annexus, where he is CEO. Annexus has spurred the growth of the fixed indexed industry market through innovative product design, and by aligning the interests of carriers, distributors and clients. It currently has over $70 billion in AUM (assets under management). In March of 2024, Ron rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange in celebration of Annexus’ 10-year partnership with Nationwide in bringing some of the industry’s most innovative FIAs to market.

Additionally, Ron is a partner in an RIA firm, Ashton Thomas, and a co-founder of third-party asset manager, Amplify, with over $20 billion in AUM combined. In 2022, Annexus entered into an agreement to merge with Integrity Marketing Group, a leading distributor of life and health insurance and provider of wealth management and retirement planning solutions. As part of the transaction, Blackstone sold their interests, Ron remained CEO of Annexus and he became managing partner of Integrity.

Besides building powerhouse businesses, Ron is deeply committed to the Phoenix, Arizona community. He took over as majority owner and CEO of the Arizona Rattlers arena football team in 2011. Since then, the Rattlers have won ArenaBowl Championships in 2012, 2013, and 2014. The Rattlers also won the 2017 United Bowl in their first season in the Indoor Football League (IFL) and competed for the United Bowl Championship again in 2019. Ron is also actively involved with the Phoenix Suns Charities, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, the Patrick Peterson Foundation for Success and the Arians Family Foundation.

Ron and his wife, Mia, enjoy spending time with their two sons, AJ and Jaxon.
